.  The only way to get to Lake Powell from the eastern side is to take the ferry from Halls Crossing.   It was a good thing we did our research - the fall operating hours are shortened.  The last ferry (which we caught) was at 4:00.  Missing that would have added another couple hundred miles to the trip!
